What this section of the blog is about
This is where the MoguWind articles land that do not fit cleanly into planning, Garmin apps or nutrition, but still help the cyclist. Routes with a name of their own (Tourmalet guides, Quebrantahuesos analysis, Tour stage forecasts), training topics, the odd bit of bike news worth covering, and the cross cutting articles that touch several products of the suite.
Latest posts
Below you have the latest from this bucket. The range of topics is wide, so if you are after something specific the browser search or the links to the other categories will probably serve you better.
Routes with a name of their own
When we publish a guide about a specific route or event (for example the Perdón loop, the Angliru, the Tramuntana, the Tourmalet, the Vuelta a Mallorca), we publish it here. The reason is that this content combines what Plan does (wind kilometre by kilometre) with what Bidón can add (nutrition specific to that route), and sometimes the App (if it is a route where carrying wind on screen makes sense).
In each article we link to the product that helps most for that particular route. If the route is 200 km, the main CTA is Bidón. If it is short but very windy, Plan. If it is in the mountains and you want to see the wind as the slope changes, the App.
Cycling news
When the Tour, the Vuelta or the Giro are on, we publish analysis of the most interesting stages from the wind perspective. We do not cover pro cycling as a sports outlet (we have neither the capacity nor the intention), but we do add what nobody else adds, how the wind will affect the stage, what weather patterns are in play, what to expect at the finish.
These articles tend to have a short traffic spike (the days around the stage) and then fall off. It is opportunistic content, but useful.
Training and performance
Here we publish the training articles that are not strict nutrition but are about performance. How to improve your average speed, how to work on the aero position, how to read Garmin Connect metrics (beyond the wind). When the topic has a specific wind angle, it goes to the Planning pillar.
Cross cutting topics of the MoguWind suite
When we talk about the whole suite, about news that affects several products, about architecture decisions or about why it is all free, that content goes here.
The three MoguWind products
Although this pillar does not have a single CTA target, the full suite is made of three free products built for cyclists.
MoguWind Plan is the web planner. You upload a route and see the wind kilometre by kilometre, the best time to leave, the optimal direction and the forecast rain. At plan.moguwind.com.
MoguWind App is the app for Garmin Edge that shows you the wind in real time as you ride and saves all the data to review later in Garmin Connect. At app.moguwind.com.
Bidón is the nutrition tool that builds a personalised plan for your route, with exact amounts of carbohydrate, water and salts, adapted to the forecast wind and climbing. At bidon.moguwind.com.
All three are free, no accounts, no subscriptions. They are made by Javier, cyclist and developer, with the help of a small community of users who keep proposing improvements.
